Hot....or Cold?

How come some people prefer cold weather or hot weather? It's funny living in a desert region having moved from "The Coldest Place" in the lower 48. I always hear people saying how much they hate the cold and wish for a continuous summer season. Whereas I wouldn't mind an 11 month winter.
A person is more prone to like a thing when he is more familiar with it and has a past of good feelings while residing in or with that object. So when I lived in that really cold place I made some really good memories there and became adapted to the climate. People in a desert region don't like the cold because they don't see it often and aren't accustomed to it's characteristics. People always fear what they don't understand.
Then you have the people that are from a winter community, yet hate the cold. This is probably due to some drastic event where they were hurt there. Maybe a relative was killed from being stuck in sub zero temperatures. It's classical Conditioning (or one of the conditioning's??).
