Why Pople Like the Songs they Do

I've often wondered why I like a particular song. It may be a genre of music that I don't like at all, yet I love that one song. It doesn't make sense. I think the answer is that people will like a song specifically because they can relate to it somehow. The stronger the relation the more I will like the song. It's kind of scary sometimes how when you hear a song and you have no idea what the singer said because you couldn't understand him/her, but you just like it for some reason. Then when you look up the lyrics you're like wow, this is totally whats happeneing to my friend or something like that.
I'm a country person, that's just my preference in music. (Probably becuase when I lived in Montana the only 2 radio stations available were country and clasical. So if you were "cool" you listened to country.) So the other day when I was vacumming out my car at my grandparents and my Grandpa came out side while I was listening to "What you Know" by TI. Naturally you can guess an older gentlemens response of "What the heck are you listining to?!" He then proceded to give me the "Bobby Boucher" (Waterboy-Adam Sandler) lecture. For those unfamiliar with this I'll give a summry of the whole thing in one sentence. "Rap music is made by the devil!"
But what my sweet, young, Grandfather doesn't realize is that I don't like Rap as a whole. There are only a few rap songs I will listen to. This one in particulaar has a strong connection to me. I remember listening to it with my best-friend while he was visiting from Texas. But not only does it just remind me of lil Jeffy Andersen, it portraits a good message. That you never really know what hardships another person has ahd so don't say that you've had it the worse.

That's so cool. I've never really thought about that before. Maybe that's why all us girls like that handful of songs that they play at EVERY single dance....because it's about boys! Lol. Just kidding.
