Gun Control

Some politicians use very emotionally charged issues to gain votes. Many have used the issue of Gun control to promote that they believe in the safety and well-being of the citizens. Why would they support such a position and does this really increase votes?
In my personal experiences I've found two key things to communicating with people in an effective manner to sway them to support you: 1) Please them by any means necessary, agree with them no matter what. If they aren't 100% sure on what they think about something make the choice for them. 2) When caught in a difficult situation where you are asked to speak about a topic you know little about or don't have strong feelings about then use a super charged personal experience. This is very wrong, but ultimately very effective. Even if it's a complete lie it works.
So by using stories of people that have had family/friends killed by a gun shot wound politicians are able to win votes because of the sympathy factor. But, what they don't realize is that there are many more red-neck hunters, than quiet city folk that haven't touched a gun in their entire life. The message is sent to the quiet city residents and accepted, while the message is sent to the country bumpkins and totally rejected. Causing an uproar of people saying "Guns don't kill people, people kill people with guns."
I agree that something should be done to reduce the number of fatal gun shot wounds, but not by completely banning gun use. Instead of being lazy and just cutting off the infected arm politicians should instead be trying to medicate it, using removal as a last resort. They should set up gun awareness programs, gun laws and restrictions, crime prevention squads, etc. Sending a message of how bad the misuse of guns can be.
